Cars in German City Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were notified by a man who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Police then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state early analysis indicate the liquid was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior political figure commented the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
